Today's Modern Children

Where does disrespect originate from.  I think at home in many families in America.  I see so many kids with little respect or courtesy or manners.  When kids tell their parents what they want and if they don't get it, they go into tirades of cursing and flipping off their parents with no punishment, I wonder what kind of productive citizens these children will become?  Hopefully, as they mature they will become more productive. Has grounding become a thing of the past?
