More attractive, thinner, taller women advance most at work

"Women who advance most at work, studies agree, are more attractive, thinner, taller and have a more youthful appearance than their female colleagues who are promoted less often."

As if the job market wasn't competitive enough; weight, symmetry, and youth are deciding factors in hiring, promotions, and pay raises.

Gordon Patzer, Ph.D., a psychologist from Chicago who has studied looks for 30 years said, "For ancestral humans, better-looking people were thought to be more productive and fecund. [from a psychological standpoint] People of higher physical attractiveness are more persuasive, which is critical in the workplace."
