Sheremet moves to divorce Rimes

LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- Country singer LeAnn Rimes's estranged husband Deane Sheremet has filed for divorce in Los Angeles, court papers show.

The move comes three months after the couple announced they separated. They had been married for seven years.

Rimes reportedly has since been dating actor Eddie Cibrian, whose wife began divorce proceedings against him.

People.com said the papers Sheremet filed Thursday cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

The documents show Sheremet is seeking spousal support from Rimes and has requested she pay their attorney fees.

Rimes and Cibrian co-starred in the Lifetime television movie "Northern Lights."
