  • RealNetworks and MTV last week said they would spin off Rhapsody, their joint music venture.

  • Netherlands-based crowdfunding service Sellaband declared bankruptcy this week, but promises to be back and be even better.

  • Citigrop is about to foreclose on UK record giant EMI, owner of the Beatles recording catalog, among others. Anyone have $150 million lying around?

  • Napster, sold in 2008 to Best Buy, recently did a management housecleaning as it tries again to find consumers willing to pay a monthly fee for music.
