Internet Speed In America

If you live in the United States, your internet speed ranks far behind  South Korea, Japan, or Sweden or even Romania. These countries have average Internet speeds many times faster than the U.S. -- at a fraction of the cost.

The U.S. ranks 25th in the world in average Internet connection speeds. That means millions of Americans can't go online to telecommute, watch high-def video, or take advantage of remote medical diagnostics.

That also means our economy is missing out on the huge benefits of broadband, from job growth to technological innovation to expanded opportunities for small businesses.

By testing your Internet speed you have already helped. We use the data from our speed test to publish an annual report that provides a state-by-state breakdown of broadband speed.

There are two more things you can do right now to support this effort.

First, you can forward the message below to everyone you know. The more people who understand the importance of broadband -- to individuals and to our entire economy -- the louder our voice will be.

Second, you can sign up to receive our weekly blog update, so you'll get the latest news about the effort to expand broadband access, right in your inbox. Click here to sign up:
