JUNE 2010 Seasonal Updates from Sengelmann Hall Seasonal Changes UPCOMING FUN FOR JULY SEASONAL SPECIALS & BIG WEEKEND DANCES Summer Madness is upon us and beginning July 1st, Sengelmann Hall will be offering Beer for a Buck inside and outside (Not just in Biergarten) until August 8th on Fridays and Saturdays - wait! And Sundays! (Select Beers Only). Sengelmann Hall, located in historical downtown Schulenburg, TX has decided to take a new approach to its business operations. Owner and founder of Sengelmann Hall, Dana Harper, is committed to offering Texas music enthusiasts great bands and dances, quality regional cuisine and a family friendly atmosphere, even if it means changing from its weekend schedule to a more seasonal business model. The award-winning dance hall was reopened after 60 years and is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For the past year, it has opened its doors Thursday through Sunday serving dinner and brunch on Sundays and offering live music in the dance hall, biergarten and in the dining room. After July 1st, the new seasonal schedule will be scaled back and the restaurant will no longer be open to the public every weekend, but will continue to serve quality cuisine during big weekend dances, private parties, and other special occasions. The new music and catering strategy will enable Sengelmann Hall to bring internationally recognized bands to the dance hall throughout the year and introduce new menu items created by Chef Kenny Kopecky. During the year, we will serve Texas favorites on our famous down-home buffet, like Bad Boy Ribeye & Chicken Fried Steak, fresh seafood, crawfish boil, Bar-B-Que and German & Czech secret recipes. The Dance Hall will feature popular bands like Chris Brade, Todd Fritsch, Zack Walther and the Cronkites & Drew Kennedy! Schulenburg Festival - August 6-8 - We are in the process of booking an incredible band for an incredible weekend! Stay tuned for the details....and we will give you a hint - Saturday night will offer a chance to see a legendary performer and Sunday will bring back your favorite "hobos." :) July 24th - FREE MUSIC IN THE BIERGARTEN with Aaron Navarro during our BEER FOR A BUCK promotion from 5pm til 7pm! Then head upstairs to the dance hall and dance the night away with Aaron and his band at 8pm (Tickets available $6 online, $8 at the door)  July 11- No Polka! Due to scheduling conflicts, we will not host Polka Sunday this weekend, but promise to make up for it on August 8th! July 9-11 Saloon & Biergarten open. Please keep in mind that keeping Polka, Cajun & Czech music alive in our dance hall is very important to us. Hana and Dana are committed to bringing the best bands to Sengelmann Hall throughout the year and will be booking favorites like, The Shiner Hobo Band, Czechaholics, Cory McCauley and his Evangeline Aces and Brave Combo for specialty Sundays! Being in the middle of Central Texas Polka Belt, and drawing on the rich cultural heritage, we will continue to bring excitement to Schulenburg with live polka music and dancing. HOME IS WHERE THE HALL IS® We're Haunted! Did you know that Sengelmann Hall is haunted? Yes, we're haunted! The floorboards creak and sometimes we hear voices upstairs when no one is there! The staff and a few locals can certainly tell many stories of late night encounters and bizarre technical issues that have happened at Sengelmann Hall. THIS WEEK'S TRUE STORY HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ON THIS TOUR? One day Crystal was taking a tour group upstairs to look around our historical dance hall. While she was explaining about the unique decor and 115 year old pine-leaf dance floor, she saw a straggling tourist out of the corner of her eye. Wanting to include him in the presentation, she turned to welcome him to the group...except no one was there. There have been a handful of actual "sightings" at Sengelmann Hall. If you see or hear a ghost walking or dancing around the Hall, please contact us immediately. We would love to add your story to our newsletter.
