People that have been on Facebook for 2+ years, are now dumping it because, even though it is fun, accomplishments and real life benefits are few.
Some of their realizations/observations are as follows:
- Facebook communication is mostly low-priority noise
- Facebook creates a false and unsatisfying sense of socializing
- Impulse sharing comes with a price
- Friends lose their individuality and become part of a collective
- Facebook is ruled by addicts
- Facebook is lazy socialization
- Facebook is an expensive way to increase visibility
- A friend isn't necessarily a “friend”
- Facebook is computer interaction, not human interaction
