Music is not a mass-market purchased product. Arguing that subscription services are unsuccessful because most people don't like music enough to pay $120 a year for it is ridiculous. Most people just don't care enough about music to want to use any music-specific product OR pay for it. Do your research. The average annual per-capita expenditure on music in the USA is about $35 and declining (and that average does not come from a normal/bell-curve distribution). Subscriptions cost a lot more than that.Yes, buying music, especially in CD format is dying. Technology will be forever changing the music market. What's the answer? Ask the fans/customers, because legally or illegally, they will get what music they want whenever they want it in whatever format.
